Introduction to Personal Financial Management
This is intended as a primer introducing the attendee to the basics of Personal Financial Management. We first address the question: “What is financial management?” It is a process (not an event) that encompasses a number of different areas. These include, but are not limited to cash management, risk management, retirement planning, estate planning, investments, taxes, education funding and business succession planning. Many people fail to achieve success in these areas due to seven common obstacles, which we will discuss. We will then describe the steps in the process that should be considered. We will finish with questions and comments.
